He. He will play himself. It will be very "post modern." He will get an award.

maybe since he lied to/wasted resources of the police, he's afraid they will retaliate while he's in jail? police do that kinda shit, but not sure if this is bad enough to warrant that... though they may out of spite.

From another article I read "after Judge Linn read his sentence, the actor defiantly stood up and declared, “I did not do this, and I am not suicidal,” adding that “if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself.” As he was taken into custody to begin his jail sentence, Mr. Smollett raised his right fist."

This makes it seem like he is being a giant drama llama. But i genuinely hope he does not try to commit suicide and is safe in jail. Come on Mr. Smollett, you can become a redemption story we all love to see!

Probably more time than anyone who actually committed a hate crime.

If he lied on the stand, he's actually not serving as much time as people normally do for perjury.

Maybe, but that wasn't my point.

Does anyone know what happened with that letter he allegedly sent to himself? I remember people saying it was being investigated as a possible federal crime back when it originally happened but nothing since then.

I don’t think they’ve said either way whether they’re charging him with this. I know they said they were investigating the letter haven’t said they will or won’t charge him. They’d have a better case against him probably now that he’s been convicted of this but who knows.
