..."excluded" is not a heightened word. Yes, it often refers to bigotry and social status and stuff, but it can refer to plenty of other situations. This is just Whataboutism.

If they're not being included in the actual ceremony, then they're being excluded from it, I think it's the right word for it. I understand what she's saying, but in this case, the Academy is being disrespectful to some of the categories and should be called out for it.

I get what she means but lol they are being excluded from the live telecast for not being as flashy or ratings-interesting as the other noms.

Also I think there are some POC in those nominations that will not be aired so it’s kinda moot point to act like those nominees are white.

I get creatives wanting to stick up for their own but as a viewer nobody has ever cared about some random guy in a long white ponytail winning for best sound editing. we just wanna see celebs we recognize in great gowns beautiful gowns. keep it short and to the point.

i've seen plenty of people make the argument that the people that follow the oscars and watch the show every year do care about these categories so the academy is making a mistake by trying to appeal to more casual viewers instead of trying to cater to the people that would be considered loyal oscar watchers

Meh, I can't bring myself to be bothered by the decision to not present some of the awards in the live show. They still get their awards and still get broadcasted. The producers are trying something new to see if it works for the TV ceremony, the actual award is still theirs.

Lol Ava is talking like someone that has spent too much time on twitter and other online spaces, people that try to pathologize and problematize every single word and punctuation, usually in a desperate attempt to support their own POV on trivial issues.
Ma'am they are being excluded from the main broadcast but there's nothing wrong with that lol, like kim there's people that are dying, lol.
