So Hardy was unprofessional as hell and holding up production, while Theron was a consummate professional, got fed up with his bullshit and received very little support on set? Sounds about right.

This comment needs to be added at the bottom of the post as tl;dr because it perfectly sums up the situation.

"A production runner on the film basically says that Hardy was more likely to stay in his trailer and would keep crew waiting for hours."

IMAGINE doing this at your office job. Just imagine.

“It was just two people trying to do the best job they could."

It was just one person trying to do the best job she could.

Tom hardy's a pos, will never understand why Hollywood keeps rewarding him, like there's definitely no shortage of yt mediocre men...

I haven't heard about him in years. I wonder if his reputation caught up to him.

He’s the lead for the venom films and they are probably adding him to the MCU. He’s still making bank

LOL I submitted a post too and kept thinking "why does my icon look different!!" haha! 😂

But back to the subject I didn't follow it too much outside of the movie but I do remember hearing of there being tension between Charlize and Tom!!

I was reading a few articles that were reporting when making the post and a lot of the crew mention that they didn't get along FROM JUMP and that there was always tension!

I do think from reading the article that George and his producer didn't help and probably led to those added tensions. There was a part when Charlize mentions that they sometimes had no idea what the scene or script was gonna be but there had to be there. I do remember Zoe and all the wives complaining about the sand and HOT conditions.

I think in such dire set conditions, in the sun for hours on end etc., tension was bound to happen, bu sounds like tom could have been a lot more accommodating and professional.

the film is still a masterpiece, it's good that they got along eventually and were civil

Oh no regardless of the setting Tom was gonna be Tom so I'm not trying to excuse or anything and I agree with you.

I just think it could've curbed early on had George done that.

Yeah same I'm glad it seemed to work in the end cause their on-screen camaraderie really did shine through!!

And I think Tom had nothing but glowing praise for Charlize all throughout the red carpet premiere and press rollout.

I mean literally what criticism can he put on Theron? That she made him look like a lazy, ego centric navel gazing dickhead? But he'd done so well demonstrating that all by himself 😂

I've never heard one good story about Tom Hardy when it comes to behind the scenes stuff. And it is so so strange to me how every time we hear about him getting physically violent (Shia and Alfonso Cuaron) or aggressive like "charging up" to people or making a "tense" environment, it's made light of. As if it wasn't a big deal at all?

Beside male behavior I think a lot of people also chalk it up to the method acting part. One of the crew members in the book mentions it too while saying he was overblown with it.

lol I keep thinking back to Robert Pattinson's take on method acting:

"“I always say about people who do method acting, you only ever see people do the method when they’re playing an a-holes,” Pattinson admitted. “You never see someone being lovely to everyone while they’re really deep in character.”

ETA: Although I'm reading about the fight between him and Shia, and Shia says it wasn't an actual fight but more rough-housing.

But I do remember hearing about allegedly putting Inarritu in the chokehold, so now I'm gonna look that one up lol!

He's the probably first actor to make me realize that! No one ever says anything else but praises it.

Other than Robert, Laurence Olivier had a funny piece of advice while working with Dustin Hoffman on a film. Dustin had decided to not sleep for a few days to get a complete dishelved look for a particular scene which he told Olivier. Only for Olivier to reply back "why don't you try acting?" loooooool!!

actual quote: “Well, I stayed up for three days and three nights.” Laurence Olivier then uttered this famous line, “Why don't you just try acting?”
