I feel like we’ve heard all these stories before but the quotes really are that much more damning. Whew, Hardy was a whole mess.

• Theron says the shoot was very tough and that she now has a clearer perspective on it all, but back then she was "in survival mode" and was scared shitless.

He says Hardy was very aggressive and Theron felt threatened. Goellnicht notes that the confrontation was a turning point in filming and that Theron said she wanted a producer assigned to be with her at all times as a form of protection against Hardy.

This is horrifying? I can't believe with what reads like so many instances of that happening they still didn't even try to keep her safe by having someone mediate? Jfc

This is one of my favorite films ever and when news about the sequel/prequel getting made came out I was pressed they didn't cast Charlize, but now I'm glad she doesn't have to work with any of these POS men.

Makes me wonder if she initially turned down being involved in another film - which made them look towards a younger version of her character instead.

She was a bit sad about it, actually:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/07/entertainment/charlize-theron-furiosa-trnd/index.html

"Theron told The Hollywood Reporter the recasting news was “a tough one to swallow” even as she wished Miller - who she called “a master” - the best.

“Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking, for sure,” Theron said. “I really love that character, and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her. She will forever be someone I think of and reflect on fondly.”"

tom hardy is a jackass and this kelly marcel also sounds like a dick trying to brush it off. it looks like she also wrote fifty shades of grey, another red flag.

and him admitting she needed a better/more experienced partner in him? i mean it sounds like if he just did the bare minimum basic common courtesy of showing up to his job on time things coulda gone way smoother. you dont need to be in the acting biz for 20yrs to realize, oh i should prob be there at the designated call time.

That part made me SO mad because it wasn't like he was new. I went to his IMDB and he had 30+ acting credits already, including shit like Inception and Dark Knight Rises! It's the classic "boys will be boys" attitude when he's a fully adult man who should know better

Yeah, I think I’m gonna go with the problem being with the person who regularly showed up hours late to work. Why is this a “both sides were assholes” narrative? Is there something specific about Theron that would make people think she was inherently… difficult? I think we know why

If a set is already nerve wracking, making people wait in full costume in what I assume is some hardcore heat bc TH decided to take his time getting ready is cruel and deeply unprofessional. The fact that Theron was denied a mediator on site is even worse.

To be fair... Theron WAS discovered throwing a shit fit in a bank ... so she does have a reputation for being emotional.

No doubt that this is played up because 'she's a woman', though... and it also doesn't make Hardy's behaviour any better!
