What you should know: Based on the novel by Francine Rivers.

And the Book of Hosea in the Bible, as it turns out. I saw the trailer and I was like 'why haven't I heard of this period piece? It seems like my...wait...is this...🧐" and then when Adele Knockoff Lauren Daigle kicked in on the soundtrack I was like AHA! I'm developing a nose for sniffing out Christian movies right away, I think! Not sure why a sex-trafficking victim needs to be 'redeemed,' but OK!!

also it is hilarious to me that Benjamin Walker and Kaya Scodelario met on that King's Daughter movie and they're now married with two kids as it's finally coming out. That's quite a delay!

Nothing I really wanna see this week, but I'm intrigued by next week's Sundown. I'm trying to go in knowing almost nothing because it looks so ~mysterious and psychological.

Having read the book I think the redeeming love part is really supposed to be the love of God. Though it's paralleled with her being 'redeemed' from her past with her marriage.

I read this in my early 20s and this was the only Christian romance that made me really upset. Angel was great but everyone else

This is long ass fuck but I get recc-ed a lot of ex-fundie content on youtube and watched this because I hadn't heard of the book and ho'boy, it sounds BAD (but of course I guessed that the second I heard "christian romance")

I used to read a lot of Christian books and I am basically a hoarder so I still have that on my shelf even though I never read it. I recognized the cover from that screen grab. 😂

a shot through the wall sounds messy 😭 what are the chances that the movie can navigate such complex issues sensitively

Ah this period of time between the end of prestige and start of award seasons/ beginning of the year where all the reject titles come out. It especially shows with this lot.
