I watched The Eyes of Tammy Faye and I liked it quite a lot. It wasn't best of the year by any means, but it was fun and genuine in the way they handled her. I knew a lot about Tammy Faye, both through pop culture and as a gay icon, but my wife didn't and loves her now.

However, I was distracted at the beginning by how much Jessica Chastain looked like Caitriona Balfe doing Tammy Faye. Maybe it was something about the jawline and hair colour?

Not a ton of amazing new options the past few weeks, but that's January for you!

We're going to see the new Scream tonight, so we watched Scream 4 last night to refresh our memories of where they left off with the series. We saw that one in theaters when it came out 11 years ago (the fuck?!), but hadn't rewatched it since then. I also showed my husband quick flix summaries of the first three beforehand, which I have seen many, many times but he's only seen once or twice. Of course all of the reviews that I've accidentally spotted so far are bad, which is a bummer since the first two are the movies that got me into horror movies in the first place.

We've been watching a lot of stuff at home this week: for movies, we watched Gimme Shelter (1970) and The Nowhere Inn, and for TV we're working on Station Eleven, Abbott Elementary, and Grand Crew. I've either enjoyed or appreciated everything I listed, so it's a good week! I still have a bunch of stuff to watch ahead of Independent Spirit Award voting - we'll see how far I get with that

I'm not big into anxiety films these days but The Pink Cloud looks interesting and beautifully shot.

Its a beautiful and sad film. I recommend it but at the same time, if anything covid-esque bothers you, don’t watch it.

I watched The Eyes of Tammy Faye and it was good. I think it needed a better director maybe? My biggest criticism is that it drags a bit and maybe feel you runtime.

I think Jessica does great in the role but I wasn’t as wowed as many people were although I do the scenes with her talking to aids patient and the last half were great! Andrew was really great too!

I think Dune is probably gonna win but I hope it’s Tammy Faye cause of that makeup was fun!! And her nails!!

I also watched Married to the Mob which was a really funny movie! Michelle Pfeiffer serving looks all the way!

And last night I watched Wonder Boys with Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, and RDJr. I was surprised at how much I ended up liking that movie!

I watched it all on HBOMax btw.

Oh man, I will have to watch Wonder Boys. I read the book a few years back and thought it seemed like it'd be tough to adapt for a number of reasons, but the fact that you liked it makes me want to watch!

I was reading about on tv tropes and apparently it’s a very faithful adaptation. I think only 2-3 things from the book were cut from the plot but overall it’s true to the source.

I wasn’t sure how I liked the ending but I’m guessing that’s how it ended in the book.

I thought Tobey and Michael were great in it!
