i havent made it past ep 2 of this yet but i wish they had given us more time with dexter before harrison arrived. i kinda fucking hate this ending - or more specifically the timing of it.
also that side ending was exactly what i was worried about when harrison was introduced - i dont want a series following harrison. tbh i didnt even want harrison. i need producers of hollywood to stop thinking stories will keep working if you just pawn them off to different characters as the years go on. that rarely works
I wasn't able to watch the reboot, but I was so disappointed in how they ended the show. I wanted to see what the ended up doing this time so I read the post. I always wanted him to ultimately get caught in the end.
NOOOOOOO. This season was so good I wanted it to continue :( but not with Harrison, I’m definitely not one of those people who always wanted Dexter to get caught/die at some point lol
Showrunner Clyde Phillips says the ending was inevitable and it wouldn't be fair to the audience to have Dexter 'get away' with his crimes again. Whatever. The more I think about it the more a second season with him being on the run/a manhunt type of thing would make more sense - he’d still be caught in the end but it would give some more time instead of it all being so rushed and having Harrison kill him, come on
Yeah I get that Dexter is the typical "thinks they are doing good but they are bad" person, but I liked him. He was a charming character throughout and having the void that is Harrison take him out was not satisfying to me, regardless of the reasoning.
Them rushing the whole thing made for some bad writing. It was like they were grasping at straws to make it come together and that’s where it fell apart for me.
They made Dexter sloppy which destroyed 8 seasons of character development. He knew the entire case was circumstantial and they made him kill Logan out of desperation?
And also the bogus plot holes they threw in there to bring him down. Dexter never used ketamine in Miami, so for Angela to use that to link him to the BHB was bs.
all that plus we're supposed to buy that Miami Metro and Special Agent Lundy couldn't put it together about Dex, but freaking Angela figured it out of basically no clues at all?
So many people were angry at the ending, which is wild to me. Especially after they specifically showed us in the second to last episode that Dexter is truly a monster who takes a great amount of pleasure in what he does. There's a reason they finally showed us him dismembering the bodies and how gleeful he was while he did it. I thought the ending was pretty satisfying, even if a bit expected once Harrison was introduced. Sad about Logan but so happy Angela survived. Really wish we could have had an Angel/Dex reunion, though!
Also, I'm not entirely sure how a spin-off would work. I thought it was nice that Harrison didn't end up being like Dexter and recognized the difference between them. As much as I enjoyed this season and want more, I think it would be kind of sad if we watched Harrison take over Dex's dark passenger.
