I travel on a MEGA shoestring budget - I took a three-week trip to the UK and flew home with literally $11 in my bank account -and have ended up in so many weird gross Airbnbs because of it. I probably should have tried to get reimbursement for some of them because they just straight up weren't as advertised but I'm lazy and they weren't the end of the world... the only one I actually complained to Airbnb about was one that was at the top of 3 flights of stairs and the stairwell literally didn't have any lights in it. there was just a skylight so you could see during the day and that's it. of course on the last night I was trying to walk downstairs in pitch blackness and tripped down one of the flights of stairs and pretty seriously hurt my ankle. I got... one night free from that one lol

yeh I discovered that airbnbs in Europe are not it, waaaaaaaaaaay better off with a hotel. Much cleaner and safer.

I never use Airbnb outside the US because I’ve heard stories like this from other travelers. I’ve had someone cancel my reservation while I was on the way to their place (Airbnb had to call them, because they wouldn’t respond to my messages), and after that, I don’t want to take the risk in another country.
