I wish some good kids books had gotten huge. Imagine all this but for something well-written!

we can say a lot about this franchise and JKR but the books were written well for what they were lol. it was accessible for young readers and had interesting world building that people really connected to, and at the end of the day that’s really all that’s needed for commercial fiction. if we want to talk about bad writing her mystery novels and her screenwriting are all right there as good examples

Nah, that's exactly my point. They AREN'T well-written for what they are.

Kidlit and YA is a huuuuuge area with so many amazing books, and Harry Potter may be popular commercial fiction but as far as its peers go? Deeply average.

I agree. I read the first one in my later teens and while it’s obviously a children’s book, it had something that snagged my attention. It’s definitely unique. I’ve read other kid’s books that are quite fun and imaginative but just don’t have that extra something to hold your attention if you’re older than 10. HP obviously connected with people in a way other books didn’t.

It’s Fuck JK Rowling Forever obviously but I’ll def watch this. Those books have a special place in my heart (and the movies to a much lesser extent) and I don’t see the point in pretending otherwise tbh, I loved these books so much lol. Hopefully they just ignore JK’s existence but I’m sure that’s not realistic at all.

Warner has been making so many huge moves this past year this is NOTHING lol. Remember they have AT&T in their back pocket as well. They threw so much money at the friends reunion and HBO has tons of great shows that win multiple awards. Warner Bros spends crazy amount of money on COVID testing and from what I hear from others that work on the other lots, my testing company at WB seems to have the better protocols as we have had the least amount of positives and/or production shut downs since productions started up again.

They are working on merging with Discovery. Warner is redoing one of their other backlots and purchased another studio with multiple soundstages down the street for stupid money. Sounds like they are really intending on becoming a huge contender for Netflix and want to release as much exclusive content to HBOmax as possible.
