i thought this was a one off for some reason so i was like meh hes just gonna die saving his son, how boring, but if its a season arc with the potential of a second season dealing with his kid i could be down.
I finished my rewatch of the series - the last rewatch of many since the end of series - recently in anticipation of New Blood.
I found myself really appreciating the later seasons more because you get a sense of Dexter just not caring to keep things under wraps any more. He is so, so incredibly restrained until Season 4/5 and the gradual switch is so interesting to watch.
This is also a series that has some of the best supporting characters. Deb. LaGuerta. Quinn. Rita. Batista. Masuka. Not to mention the each season’s Big Bads! So many more I didn’t mention (loved Mike as well). They are so well developed for as little screen time as you get with them. You get layers and gives us a break from Dexter’s self-absorbed assholeness. My only gripe with later seasons is that I wish they would have gone back to the books because there are some cool stories to mine.
This episode was ACES and completely has me jazzed for this limited series. I want to talk theories!

I'm still mad my orange prince isn't back for this. Which means I'll be mad when my bf inevitably makes me watch it.

Yes! I don't deny he was orange for at least 3 seasons but I still loved him.

The thing that threw me is that he seems a bit older than he should be with the timeline but that could very much be a me thing.
