escandaloooooo....... I wish i knew more about her personal life to speculate what HBO focused on or exploited to piss her off (can't be David coulier drama? lmao) but this is so fascinating. Living legends participating in their own biopics/docs usually turn into puff pieces so hmmmmmmm

I'm intrigued to know what happened. I will say, I'm a HUGE Whitney Houston fan and I felt most of her posthumous docs did her legacy a great disservice. There was hardship in her life, we all know that ... but the docs seemed hellbent to focus solely on scandal rather than any positive attributes. She deserved better and I wonder now if Alanis is getting the same treatment.

I loved that doc too. It made me buy her latest memoir "Love Story" as well. Tina has had it rough but I want her to have happiness.

Reading her full statement, it seems like she feels like she overshared at an emotionally vulnerable time and regrets it.

Deadline talked to the director -

“It’s a really hard thing, I think, to see a movie made about yourself. I think she’s incredibly brave, and the reaction when she saw it was that it was a really - she could feel all the work, all the nuance that went into it. And again, she gave so much of her time and so much of her effort into making this, and I think that the movie really speaks for itself.”

I'm wondering why she didn't negotiate for some kind of control over the final edit of the film.

Don’t wanna downplay AM celebrity power but at this point in her career, could she really negotiate control over something that’s meant to be profitable for studios? It’s either that or she has crappy management.
