Jesus. It only just now occurred to me how young she was when Jagged Little Pill dropped and it was pretty clear from the lyrics that she'd been through some shit.

She's only four years older than I am. Holy fuck.

Sadly not surprising given the lyrics of Hands Clean. I hope she's doing well with therapy ❤ she's the best

I remember waiting in the car for my Mom while she was in the store and actually paid attention to the lyrics to Hands Clean. I was like DEAR GOD! Poor Alanis.

It really sucks how many women have been raped or abused.

Whenever the petty part of me is tempted to think misogynistic thoughts about a woman or a group of women, I remind myself how likely it is that they've been through shit-however privileged and happy they seem. Solidarity.

this quote really knocked the wind out of me:

She continues in the documentary: "You know a lot of people say 'why did that woman wait 30 years? And I'm like f*** off. They don't wait 30 years. No one was listening, or their livelihood was threatened, or their family was threatened.

"The whole 'why do women wait' thing? Women don't wait. Our culture doesn't listen."
