I’ve seen Lorde live and her flailing is actually endearing in a live setting. I wonder if it’s because of COVID or Solar Power not doing so well,

The lack of fun fun in the sun this summer has been because of covid for a lot of people. And also going by some of the ontd comments leading up to the release of the first single and then the album...A LOT (EVERYONE) of people really wanted Melodrama pt 2.

I still haven't listened to it in full but I know that was THEE album for a lot of people. They barely talk about Pure Heroine but Melodrama had them starving for more so I think there was a lot of hyped up anticipation expecting the same energy buuuuut this being a more high by the beach album was underwhelming to that expectation lol.

i dont care about melodrama, i loved pure heroine but i wouldve been really down for something high by the beach and its hard to understand how someone with interesting past melodies wrote this. regardless this album is boring. her voice is boring, every riff is boring, its just painful.

I love Pure Heroine (I think the production on that album suits her voice more than a lot of what she’s done since) but Melodrama is a more cohesive album and I think deserves the acclaim and love. I totally get that feeling that Solar Power disappointed because people wanted more Melodrama too. And I think that’s largely because when people like a thing, they don’t want whoever created it to change it or even grow past it. It’s like how I see a lot of Marina fans disappointed that she’s never made another Electra Heart or Gaga fans wanting another Fame Monster.

i really like the album after a few listens tbh.

but i was never expecting melodrama pt 2, it was obvs she wanted to do something different

i feel like i defended the homemade dynamite performance in the moment, but honestly i was so wrong. it was a terrible move and she should've cancelled if she was that sick. that's one of the best songs on melodrama but it just wasn't a good single choice and wasn't right for the vmas.

solar power is a solid album, but i wonder if the reception is kind of driving lorde away until it's time to tour it
