People actually just stand there and clap for 9 minutes? Sounds exhausting and obnoxious.

lol I was just coming to comment about that. I know that the ovations are a thing~ at Cannes but 9 minutes is sooo long to clap under any circumstances?? I would get bored and stop way before that. They must be little golf claps if their hands aren't hurting.

i was at the nyff premiere of 'roma' a few years back and witnessed a 4-minute standing ovation for alfonso and the cast/crew, and believe me it was hella weird lmao

Lol I imagine it must be even weirder for the people receiving it. To stand up on a stage awkwardly standing and smiling in front of people clapping at me for 9 minutes sounds like a true nightmare.

Oh Timmy Chalamet AND a party bus you say? Sign me up.

Was Saoirse not there? I miss her on the red carpet.

Mte I was hoping she would be there. I remember reading that she has a very small part in the film though, basically a cameo.

I'm really looking forward to it! The reviews are basically what I expected, and I'm glad that Jeffrey Wright got some love:

Still, Wright’s performance may be the strongest selling point of “The French Dispatch,” and the one that brings it all home. His stern gaze and baritone delivery capture the essence of the soul-searching that has deepened and matured in Anderson’s films over the years.

I think he's fantastic in pretty much everything, and I'm glad that continues here.

Sounds like it's such an ensemble piece that it won't be much of an awards player, but I'm fine with that.

Woohoo can’t wait to finally see this!! Also love to imagine Wes Tilda and Timmy standing there during the 9 minute standing ovation alternating between looking smug and in open mouthed wonder like Taylor Swift at her concerts lmao

Look at what Tilda Swinton did to Timothee Chalamet during ‘The French Dispatch’ standing ovation. #Cannes2021 pic.twitter.com/MNmkzdUktA
