Wes Anderson, a longtime expatriate denizen of Paris, has made his latest film (and first live action film in seven years) about American journalists reporting abroad in France, and the first reactions and reviews from its Cannes premiere are very positive. Some critics do note that they feel the anthology format of The French Dispatch is less emotionally engaging than they might have hoped (though that's always something people debate with Anderson's films), but basically every review praises the aesthetics, and most reviews are onboard overall.
Regular audiences will have to wait until late October to see it, alas.

The French Dispatch is a flood of words and details, you can be overwhelmed or just go with it and get swept away. This is a pretty big statement but it's the best-looking film Wes Anderson has ever made; mixing black-and-white, animation, pastels, miniatures, and even sexuality.
