I cannot comprehend why yt people think hallucinogens are a one-stop cure all to all their problems.

I wish they were! I would love to get rid of my anxiety. I would be smoking all the toads lol. But I fear/know hallucinogenics would just mess me up more

I see what you are saying, but in all fairness there have been a lot of recent studies about microdosing LSD and other hallucinogens that helps certain types of psychosis and other mental issues. There's also an argument that since the compounds come from natural sources they can actually be better for you in the long run than the pharm stuff but I need more testing for that, dammit!

source: My therapist (who has an interest in non-traditional approaches for mental illness in addition to what he does, so he reads up on new therapies, techniques, etc).

U are probably joking but please don’t use toad venom! it is not meant to be used as a widespread medicine the way it is now. local researchers who live alongside the bufo alvaris species in the sonoran desert are concerned that milking the toads is leading to stress which is affecting the population. There is a synthetic form of the 5-MeO-DMT compound (aka what gives the toad their “special” qualities) that can be created so that the toads can be left alone.

lol yeah no i wouldn't actually get toad venom and that makes sense that this would be bad for the toads! good to know there's a synthetic form for when my 30% thc flower runs out LMAO

Why can't people just go to therapy? Hiring a spiritual coach and smoking toads sounds great but also maybe just do the work on yourself? I'm all for total wellness but she doesn't seem like the type to want to just knuckle in and do the work of therapy. I know not everyone has a good experience in therapy, or a good fit or want quicker results but like just go to therapy girl, your rich. Why do Republicans like her try to heal (in their minds permanently fix) using cultural traditions of people they obliterated and just refuse to fucking talk to someone weekly?

That is a question I ask so many of my friends, man. Hallucinogens don't cure all your ails and avoidance only makes it worse. The fact it's become a trend like goji berries is so fucking sad. I blame Joe Rogan for talking about DMT for years and years. Snowball effect.

I do think that things like microdosing or hallucinogens may help but as part of a bigger mental health journey. I don't think you can lick poisonous frogs and never need to cry to a therapist again. That's super unrealistic. Joe Rogan is the fucking worst for a lot of things but the chokehold he has on white people and men is both terrifying and dangerous. His mental health comments are scary and filled with toxic masculinity.

I COMPLETELY agree with you on all points. Just crazy how we got here. I saw Joe Rogan do standup in the early 2000's talking about DMT and at the time it blew my mind. Insane how quickly ideas like that can travel and become toxic.

A lot of people think she’s over explaining herself but IMO that’s her ✨trauma response✨ and idk that I blame her. She may be misunderstood and this was kinda weird but whatever, let her live her life.

maybe, but plenty of people over explain and not everything is a "trauma response."

I didn't say everyone who over explains does it for that reason. I was talking about her in particular.

right, but, how would you know? We don't know her at all, and we're not her therapists.

My beef is just with this trend lately to over assign psychological diagnoses and pathologize normal behaviour. It's like when people say someone is gaslighting them because that term has been thrown around so much that no one is using it right anymore.
