EW gives new Pixar movie "Luca" a B+

'Luca' is small-fry Pixar, a sunny Mediterranean trifle set in a postcard Italian village by the sea. But it's a winning one. https://t.co/8rl2EXJRln

Wait, so you're telling me I don't have to spend an additional $30 to watch it?

No! You don’t have to pay anything as long as you already have a Disney+ sub, isn’t that great??

I thought so too. But I’ve seen clips and gifs that people made it seem so. Idk but they are such good friends that it’s so sweet like awwww

Some site was like "Why aren't Pixar movies as good as they used to be? with this + onward mentioned.

And I agree. This was fine, it had a very Miyazaki feel to the story ("Just do cool shit and have interpersonal relationships").

[Spoiler (click to open)] I liked the frankly, underdeveloped relationship between Alberto and Giulia's father more than the others.

Also the sea monster versions are so much cuter than the human versions lol

I see this, Onward and also The Good Dinosaur as their b-team movies with Soul and Inside Out being the studio's a-team/main stage projects for those corresponding years. It does seem like this is their only animation being released this year though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm one of the few people who will go to bat for The Good Dinosaur lmao but I feel people are too overprotective of Pixar because it's their childhood.

I saw most of it with my kids today and I loved it! I'll probably rewatch it again, so I can see the parts that I missed.

I loved it! It was so beautiful. The animation was amazing, I loved the character design and the scenery 😍

I also thought the story was really nice, low-stakes. I have found the last few Disney/Pixar films have had great visuals (Raya) but the stories have been lacking (though I haven't watched Soul yet)

I just loved this movie so much, so I was really happy. I just wished they had released it in cinemas, or will, because it's just so beautiful and needs to be seen on the big screen ❤️
