I finally watched it over the weekend! It was a pretty good show although I’ll admit the many twists and turns came off sloppy at times for me. Idk if I like how “who the killer is” reveal was handled.

I heard that COVID had stopped the filming of the show in March 2020 and didn’t resume until September 2020 and that caused half the script to be rewritten. If that’s true then maybe that explains why aspects of plot came off sloppy(?)

I really liked the aesthetic, mood, and vibe of the show!

Also I didn’t care for the possible relationship of Zabel and Mare?? Yeah I get that she mostly went along with it because she wanted to stay close to the case but ehh??

Still was shocked by zabel’s ending…couldn’t see that coming and I think it was kinda unnecessary.

Yeah there were too many twist and turns and red herring everywhere!!

I didn’t care for the relationship because he looks like a kid next to her. I was actually shocked to found out Kate is only 12 years older than him!! I thought it’d be more.

[Spoiler (click to open)]I feel like Zabel's death was meant to show how focused Mare could be that she doesn't even realize what's going on around her/understand the potential collateral damage. She was really reckless when she thought she was doing the right thing. Like with planting the drugs on Carrie, and with that I don't think she really understood how wrong it was and I think Zabel's death made her snap out of it.

this is one of the reasons why British(or Nordic) crime shows are better 90 % of the time. the characters feel more authentic because they look... like real people.

Not that it was ever made to be the best show ever, but i remember watching CSI : Miami wwhen i was younger and thinking how everyone had bleached teeth and looked so polished at all times. felt unnatural.

Omg, csi: Miami, I remember when we got a HD TV (we had a old tube TV set in wood for too long lol ) and I could see Callie? (The blond detective? She had a close up and it was all Pores and layers of makeup!!! I think at the time a lot of makeup styling usually used was not quite ready for HD TV. Later episodes everyones skin was smoother and less cakey....

One thing I really appreciated is that when Mare would be dressed up, they struck a really good balance of styling her so that she was fancy but not Hollywood fancy. She looked amazing because Kate Winslet is so pretty but it was still something a real person at home could achieve.

Yes, a little makeup and a White House Black Market blouse with jeans.

I really appreciated that in this show her character looked exactly like how you would expect her to look. She’s such a beautiful woman.
