millenials can continue to be cynical etc but I understand why this speaks to a mass amount of people. We all were dramatic (some still are) about relationships and such and it's simple yet relatable lyrics.

I will say that listening made me revisit the punk pop era of all American rejects, paramore etc

Yeah tbh I don’t get the obsession with making generational jokes with this album because most of it isn’t really specific to teenage heartbreak. Most of the breakup songs you could give to any older artist and no one would notice or say ‘I can’t relate to this’, lol.

I get that the aesthetic and everything is very ‘teen’ though.

I think there's just something about the timing, it feels like a new pop star is emerging after a pop girl drought (i don't count Billie eilish tbh, nothing against her it's just her aesthetic isn't really teen pop) And separately at the same time the general public has recognized that millennials are actually adults and no longer the youth culture.

Which is interesting bc if anything the aesthetic definitely calls to millennials as it's very 90s and early 2000s which is our teenage years.
