she really is. I've had a major crush on her since A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Jennifer Lawrence was an Best Actress Oscar nominee when THG was cast. This wasn't a Dragon Tattoo situation. That role was earmarked for her by the studio. Unless she had said no, no one else was going to play Katniss - even if they casted for a backup.

You might be right lol

“More than 50 actresses auditioned for the lead role in The Hunger Games franchise with Jennifer Lawrence emerging the ultimate victor.

Producer Nina Jacobson has admitted that once Jennifer read for the part, everyone else was forgotten about.

‘I teared up,’ Jacobson told Variety. ‘We had a lot of wonderful actresses at the audition, but it was game over at that point.’”

This list is from imbd which you should always take with a grain of salt-

Emma Roberts, Chloë Grace Moretz, Mary Mouser, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Lyndsy Fonseca, Jodelle Ferland, Saoirse Ronan, Kaya Scodelario, Emily Browning, Brie Larson, and Shailene Woodley were considered to play Katniss.

Even the sequels tbh. The first one was great but the rest weren’t IMO

The 1st film was good, but the action scenes were pure garbage thanks to the use of the shaky cam, the franchise really came alive with the 2nd film and Francis Lawrence as the diretor.

Disagree. I wish they could remake the first movie with Francis Lawrence directing.

When I read the books back in the day I didn’t think Katniss was white at all. Maybe I skipped through something while reading but I remember how confused I was when JLaw was announced.

It was pretty shitty that they only seemed to consider white actresses

Book description according to google- “straight black hair, olive skin, and grey eyes”

That doesn’t have to be white

Yeah, I remember she was described as having olive skin.

Bc she wasn't all-American white like the studio wanted - and eventually cast - It was insinuated that District 12 was basically segregated, and darker complexioned people were more in the mines. Her father was from the mining side and her mother was from the 'better' side with the pale people.
