her wiki says she went to Columbia for a year then dropped out so freshman year 18-19. so the only time frame for her to write this song is then when she was 19 so lets say first semester at Juilliard because "Vanessa Carlton wrote “A Thousand Miles” in her childhood home as a teenager.
