I’m not even trying to be a hater (or am I like trying to shame mixed people) but it’s like 2021 and it is still sad how Hollywood (and UK television) always seem to cast a light skinned biracial black woman for the majority of these tv/movie roles.
It’s just frustrating at times. I’ve especially noticed this trend on all Netflix shows and it’s why Bridgerton’s “diversity” was also annoying to me.
my favorite is how they'll make sure to cast a multi-racial, ethnically diverse actor and you know they're telling themselves they're slick for covering all the bases they could by casting one person. "She's bisexual AND part black AND part native AND part latina AND A FEEEMAAAALE! DIVERSITY! LET THEM COMPLAIN NOW!"
Every. Time! Can’t u see it anymore, it has soured me on so many things and kept a lot of shit off my watch list. I also like how supposedly needing a “name” is why they balk at casting black actors, but they never have a problem pulling some random light-skin chick from the bushes somewhere.
