Oh I didn't know gore is directing it. The first pirates is pretty fantastic. I will give it a shot.

Yeah, honestly, Gore did such a good job on that first Pirates that I will pretty much watch anything fantasy-wise that he does.

I understand the cost of pirate ships and huge sets but filming 2 & 3 together was a mistake

For reasons other than he hasn't continued the books? 👀 👀

Ah, sorry, that does look more dire than it really is! Mostly because he didn't finish the books, but ESPECIALLY because he gets so mad when people are rightfully pissed about it.

GRRM and his apologists like to do the "he doesn't owe anyone ANYTHING" which is maybe, like, cosmically true but in terms of his contract with his publisher and the contract/trust he cultivated with his fanbase, deeply incorrect!

The trouble is that his backlist will continue to make money forever, so even though it's a breach of contract, his agent/publisher will never do anything about it because he could say "fine, I'll sign a new contract somewhere else" OR, more likely, it still won't get a book written and they'll still get the royalties no matter what, so why burn the bridge JUST IN CASE he does pull a book out?

I'm not holding my breath for The Winds of Winter (obviously), but I would still like to read it. Oh well. I might rewatch Game of Thrones, but I'm not watching any of this other shit coming out.
