I haven't watched anything lately, yay depression. But a new season of Taskmaster starts tonight, and I might maybe finally watch Sound of Metal afterwards, but...again probably not.

Oh, plus I have a ticket to the TIFF Secret Movie Club this weekend and the movie is The Courier so I guess I'm watching that.

Lately I watched Coming to America (again) and Coming 2 America. The rewatch was amusing and I liked the sequel 🤷🏼‍♀️ it was harmless fun and I laughed a lot.

I watched The White Tiger which I thought was pretty good.

I watched Moxie and tho I’m not the target demo for a teen film. I like Amy Poehler so I thought I’d support her. It was decent and had good intentions. A little too much, trying to fit in every current narrative, but I liked the acting and the characters were fun.

Food Club sounds like my kind of jam because older ladies living their best lives + a spot of drama is my jam.

Always keeping an eye out for the thriller/horror films but so far I'm expecting to be whelmed, as usual (fuck, I'll even take underwhelmed, at least it's a feeling).

I have been watching kathleen turner and michael douglas movies (romancing the stone, the jewel of the nile and the war of roses) and I had no idea how fantastic of an actress kathleen turner is. The war of roses is brilliant. Like they don’t hold back and some of the subtle choices each actor makes is great. Danny devito’s direction is great and omg I hate michael douglas’ character so much. Such a narcissistic, insidious man

Please do, she is so brilliant! And her and michael douglas chemistry is fire. I kind of hate him normally but she elevates him lol

War of the Roses is a modern classic imho. In terms of the vastly underrated Kathleen Turner, I also recommend Body Heat and Serial Mom, if you haven't seen those.

Interested in a few of the new releases this week - Rose Plays Julie, Wojnarowicz, and Happily in particular, but I can wait for them to show up streaming somewhere. I gotta look around for reviews to see if the Varsity Blues doc is worth a watch.

Have a bunch of stuff left to watch for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and all I've checked off the list so far is The White Tiger, which was fine. My biggest priorities are First Cow and Miss Juneteenth - just watching those two will make me whole in a lot of categories, so those are the next two movies we'll tackle when we're feeling a drama.

But sometimes, your brain needs garbage! Or at least mine does. After recently watching Wandavision, we decided to do a (casual, slow-paced) Marvel watch/rewatch. We're going in chronological order, so last night, we watched Captain America, which I'd never seen in full before. The way they make him small at the beginning is SO distracting, he's like... too small with too big of a head?? Or something? Idk, I hated it visually. But the movie ( ... )
