Pretty much every golden globe is bought and paid for in some way

I feel bad speculating if it's NOT the case, but I wouldn't be surprised. I very much like Gaga, but her performance in AHS: Hotel wasn't noteworthy imo, and she somehow beat Queen Latifah and Kirsten Dunst. Though - it could've also just been a case of the HPFA giving it to her because they wanted to bump elbows with her, idk. The ASIB nominations made more sense than giving her an award for AHS Hotel, especially when that category was SO stacked that year.

they have a tendency to give out a bonkers award that doesn't make much sense at least once a year or so. though now it's not so surprising considering these recent relevations.

Thats how she won the Oscar, those things are kiss ass festivals and she's the type to bend herself into a pretzel to get people to like her. Im sure voters were treated very lavishly by her, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess

Of all the shows Netflix has made, this is the one they decided to go hard for? 🤦🏽‍♀️

It makes me want to cry that they spent so much money on this garbage when we could have had a second season of Giri/Haji.

they could've at least made it less obvious by choosing a show that was half good

That's honestly what's most baffling about all this. Everyone who has watched this hated it and for good reason. A better actress might've charmed their way around the flippant, clueless, entitlement Emily has but the fact that the script doesn't drive home that Emily is the one who's in the wrong here is the most appalling thing about it.

Sure, write in stereotypes. I don't have an issue with that as long as the writing is condemning it and the character learns from it. But it doesn't seem to be the case here. And yet, they saw all the backlash, all the valid criticism about the show's shallowness and culturally insensitive attitude and still decide that this is the show they want to push to the top?

Who are these people making these decision and how do they even have careers that let them make these decisions in the first place?

Golden Globe nominations were extremely colorless this year
