i just found out one of my best friends tested positive. i told her i was here if she needed anything delivered or if she just wanted to talk etc and she said she's not feeling too badly just yet, but yeah. i worry :/
My brother's coworker has covid so they had to cancel their daughters 16th bday party (which they shouldn't have been having anyways obvs) while he isolates and we did a drive by party yesterday for her, she was really happy so that's good. Hopefully my brother didn't get it, he's a smoker and doesn't really take care of himself so his health is not great.
I think I might be sick with covid, went to the doctor on monday and he said it was faringitis, took the antibiotics but I'm still really weak. had a fever one day and I was coughing a lot for two days but now it's stopped. I honestly have no strength to leave home and get tested, plus they said you shouldn't go to the hospital unless you're feverish and short of breath so I'm resting and trying and not to let my anxiety get the best of me.
I am so frustrated that they don’t test people here in Germany. I was sick last week and my throat is still sore and I had to exaggerate my symptoms and had to lie saying that my 65+ old parents with asthma live in my house to finally get tested, otherwise they literally just tell you to stay home for a week if you feel sick and if it goes away then you „probably don’t have it“. I always wonder how other countries can just test anyone and here we have no capacity. Clearly they must have been asleep all summer
That's interesting to hear because here in the States we were hearing about how Germany started testing people far earlier and with more frequency than other countries in Europe and that's why you guys were able to get a handle on the virus better and had less fatalities. I have friends in Berlin and they were able to get tested with no issues but that was early days. Maybe it depends on where you go?
Yeah it depends on how well organized the city is. I think it's also luck if whoever you call feels like you need a test. I mean you can get tested and pay for it yourself but I think this is about insurance covered tests.
I don’t think that Germany does anything special. People can get tested if they’re ill. Their doctors decide on their own if you have enough symptoms to get tested. But there seems to be a difference. I haven’t heard of people who get so sick that they have to go to the hospital.
