Apple's album Fetch the Bolt Cutters was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The track Shameika was based on a real person, a childhood schoolmate who intervened when Fiona was being bullied. I love everyone involved in this, Fiona, Shameika, their teacher Ms. Koony - everyone (except the bullies, I hope they're still sat at their table of sadness).

I love the story, it's almost too good to be true. Shameika is my favorite song on the album, but I thought some people would be weirded out a little if they learned something they once said when they were kids was so important to somebody they probably don't even remember (maybe it's just my own anxiety about getting close to people and rejection, I don't know). I'm glad I was wrong here.

I wonder if the bullies remember Fiona, too (if they do, they probably made up a lot of rationalizations for their behavior in their heads, I guess).

Also, their teacher sounds like a cool person.
