Apple's album Fetch the Bolt Cutters was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The track Shameika was based on a real person, a childhood schoolmate who intervened when Fiona was being bullied. At the time the two kids weren't friends, but Fiona said she always remembered Shameika's encouraging words to her. Through a teacher decades later, Fiona and Shameika (who has a musical career of her own) reunited and collaborated on each other's songs. OP implores you to read the piece at the once Chicago based, Conde Nast owned online music publication to learn more about Shameika and her reuniting with Fiona. Both the tracks are phenomenal.
