ONTD Original: How Much Have Celebrities Donated To Political Campaigns?

Nov 02, 2020 16:08

Right on the heels of Election Day, I decided to finally finish this post I started a month or two ago but have been procrastinating on -__-" I'm not sure if there's a way to see if these celebs have made donations through other means, but I've sourced this post from the FEC's individual contributions data and cross-checked against OpenSecrets.

"Several of his donation records list his occupation as 'Rapper'."

I’m not even surprised that Eva is the only one who truly put her money where her mouth was.

Good post OP.

Her amount surprised me a bit. I know she's rich but her donations are rather impressive when comparing to others on the list who definitely have more money than her.

I feel a sudden and strong love for her

Same. More and more I think she’s genuine. She wants, I think, to better this world. Better Texas.

I know Isaiah Washington is shit, but he's also a Trump supporter???

I also thought there was a limit to how much you can give to one person, so I'm confused by the $20,000 donation to Romney.

You can donate to super-pacs to get around that.

For some reason I thought I'd heard that he was registered/voted Republican, but I don't remember where I heard it from.

Isaiah Washington has always given me "black men don't want to dismantle the patriarchy, they want the same access white men have to it," vibes.

Also oh that's what Ezra Koenig looks like? I thought he'd look stranger for some reason.

Daaaaaammmnnnn Eva! I do predict part of that $$$ is because she plans to run for office herself but I'm not even mad. She's smart, she's articulate, and Texas needs good Dems in power. Surprised Scott Baio even has $30k to spend. I mean, why would he spend every penny he's made in the last 25 years on politics? Silly man. Reese has such Republican energy, I so often overlook her politically, but kudos Re-Re.

Baio had a great investment banker and he lives cheap. He’s the guy who was always afraid of being broke and minded his money. He was interviewed on some morning show when I was at the doctor years back. I’m surprised given how cheap he is he donated. Maybe he wanted the write off.

But damned if all those rumors I heard yeeeears ago about him being on white supremacy boards doesn’t feel true given everything that has played out.

I don't think you get a writeoff if you donate to political things, though?

I thought it was? That was why they wanted corporations to be seen as people who could donate. And lbr dirty money.

Do we have an accountant around to answer?
