I think that's why she worked so well as Ann on Parks. Just an average, nice person that Leslie, who is completely over the top in every way, adores lol
Even after many Parks rewatching it never crossed my mind that she was mixed. Even after a couple remarks made by Leslie I still never thought she was anything but 100% white so seeing her play Black characters all of a sudden has been odd. Like she has played white or race-less characters for so many years. I can't be the only one confused by this change.
she played a mixed character in black ish too. i think she only looks white to white people, just like some people thought zayn was ~italian~
her dad is quincy jones i dont think she was exactly able to hide her blackness. shouldnt your questions be directed at the industry instead that even when they have a black actress they have her play a white or non black character? like that's some effort to deny blackness in media. i don't understand what's odd about a black actress finally being able to play black characters when maybe the industry didn't allow her this privilege before. like maybe she wasn't able to and now that she's established she can? idgi
You're absolutely right. It's not my place to question another Black person's blackness and Hollywood notorious antiBlackness definitely has more todo with the roles she got to play than anything she did. It's definitely sad that she's finally getting to explore Black roles at 44 and not when she started out in her teens.

you said it yourself that she's quincy jones' daughter. you really think she didn't have the pull to play explicitly black characters in the past if she didn't want to? and hollywood loves giving mixed actresses roles that could go to dark-skinned/not-mixed actresses, so this idea that they wouldn't want her of all ppl to represent palatable blackness doesn't even make sense.
she has such a cute face, ugh i just think she's adorable. i don't care for her as an actress one way or another but she's been doing these ads for a glasses brand that makes me want to immediately go out and buy them so i can be that cute
