Part of me truly believes Game of Thrones as a whole isn't worth watching/recommending to new viewers because all of the scenarios and ideas you think will happen or are happening are more throughout and unique/interesting than the piece of sludge you end up with. It's so disappointing. I've never been more let down by a show in my life lol

It just becomes more and more obvious that amazing production values and decent actors can convince people something is legitimately good.

It has zero re-watch value. That alone prob cost HBO millions. They really screwed themselves taking on D&D and their sloppy, shitty style of running a show

One thing is they did an okay job working with already published written material. Not always great , and some very bad decisions but around season 5 the mix of 'ran out of books to work with' and 'we give up made some VERY VERY terrible things glaring out in front.

Sometimes they had partial published material (Dorne, for example) and had zero idea where it was going so they just basically trashed the whole thing and made characters act in incomprehensible ways, eliminated characters from the books central to the Dorne plot and just brutalized them (mostly POC actors and characters too) and killed them off to say they paid any attention to Dorne.

After that, they just did not give a shit about most character development, logical plotting, or anything but checking off boxes on a list. And it showed.

Sometimes, parts sparked through, but overall it felt more about spectacle and less about people and that's where you lose it.

I'm still so mad about Sleepy Hollow. Season 1 was amazing and then it went downhill when Katrina was brought on. And then Abbie sacrificing herself and the show wanting to go on with a new Witness? Fuck that shit.

I was so mad about that.

I always wonder if someone with more creativity could've brought Katrina more into the fold without ruining the show. Because her witch skills could've been a great addition to the team.

And it could have shown growth about exes being amiable together etc. but okay.

IMO, one thing I think could have massively improved the final GOT season we got? Just switch the order of events. So King's Landing goes up, Cersei's taken out, Dany's taken out. Then they all regroup in the north to face the Night King, only it's an actual threat because they don't have dragons and their armies are severely depleted. IDK. Oh, and Jaime doesn't die in a basement with Cersei. Because that was just bullshit. One of the best character developments in the entire series, and then it ended like that? Tf.

Anyway, I don't even really like GOT. But like spoil said above, I've never been so disappointed by a tv show before.

Even reading killing eve discussions on ontd used to make me mad. Proves that ontd will always remain white feminist central

I am still pissed that I watched all seasons of Gossip Girl only to find out that Dan is Gossip Girl. Such an effin joke and wtf were the writers thinking.

Gossip Girl’s first season is perfection tho and I wish the writers were able to preserve that kind of vibe. Everything went downhill during the 2nd season but for some reason I kept watching lol.

They introduced way too many unnecessary plots and characters after S1. In my mind it was so easy to continue the success of S1, but they made a huge mistake by removing Blair/Serena as the centre of the show and by flipping the narrative to suggest to the audience that you should root for the rich and not the “poor”. Gossip girl was supposed to be a satire and it became the thing it was mocking. In the end it suggested that money and status was the most important thing. The show became soulless and had no heart.

I fully believed in season one that Dan was Gossip Girl. Or at least the first half of season one.

....but how? Gossip Girl is a metaphor. It’s not a whodunnit mystery. Sorry I will scream this until the end of time lol
