This is why now I prefer Netflix or Hulu shows tbh. I feel like long running shows on network tv for a myriad of reasons cause the writers to end up going crazy and stupid after writing so many episodes a year with too many plotlines and they end up they writing the most ludicrous endings and things that don’t make sense because they’re making it up as they go along and some are too reliant on fan service and some are forced to do too many cliffhangers which all ultimately damaged the integrity of the show.
Whereas writers on streaming platforms can plan out a 10 episode season like a long movie and don’t have those pressures.
I believe the best length for shows is 13 episodes per season (5-6 seasons) tops, I think that's the right ammount of time for a show to be great and to not let down the audience, that's why I prefer cable and I was honestly happy with The Good Place overall (yeah the last season wasn't the best but was enjoyable ) also it's always good to have show runners who know where is good to let a show go lol
Since I learned that when a pilot is picked up actors are signing 7 year contracts I always worry networks will force showrunners to stretch every show to milk it instead of discussing a season plan with the creators and how many would be realistic for the story. Not everything needs 7 seasons, 3-5 is the sweet spot for most stories.
I genuinely don't understand S3 of Killing Eve. Beyond Eve being the titular character, she's the narrative. It's her story, her growth or regression that should be driving the plot. Villanelle is Eve's foil.
I think the point was supposed to be that V ended up realizing the only "family" she had was Eve, because she didn't have her real family and she didn't have Konstantin, but yeah, it was incredibly weird timing.
yeah like i enjoyed the season for what it was, but it made no sense how they CLEARLY pivoted the start of the season to be about her personal journey without her boring man, job, etc and then... the villanelle show
For a show that got cruelly canceled before it's time, I think they ended it pretty well all things considered. I really miss that show. It had so much potential and Karen and John were amazing in it.
I never really understood the hate for Piper. She was perfectly fine as the lead. Yes she was kinda boring. Yes there were plenty of other characters on the show who had better stories. But she was the best way to introduce the audience to the setting/plot of the show. And they did a good job of focusing on other characters once the world was established. Also I fully believe the lead on a show should be straight. The wacky characters are great, but they are usually better in smaller doses.
She was fine as the lead in the beginning seasons, and even though I stopped watching before the show ended, I appreciated that the show focused more on the lives of the other (poc) inmates versus the lone blonde, white girl who made herself out to be the victim.

After this week, I'd say The 100 is a show that wasted all of its potential. It was never a masterpiece but I loved it at some point.
