I love a lot of Simon & Garfunkel songs, but even though Paul Simon wrote basically all of S&G's songs I don't really like any of his solo stuff
I can quasi-ironically get into You Can Call Me Al because it reminds me of being a kid in the early 90s wearing big white Tshirts with denim shorts eating ringpops and watching a VHS rented from blockbuster or whatever, but that's about it
jfc I was listening to BBD's "Do Me" a few months back and listened to the lyrics and uhh, they rap about having sex with underage groupies, I was so grossed out and haven't been able to listen to it since
I was set to agree, but I looked at the numbers. While it's a fact black artist have to work ten times harder, Backstreet boys have sold 100 million albums worldwide.N'sync 35 million, new kids on the block 80 million. Boyz II Men 34 million ,new edition 20 million. It's still better to be a solo artist. Janet 100 million , Mariah 200 million, and in the streaming era Rhianna is at 60 million, Taylor 50 million Adele 53 million, Justin Timberlake 32 million, bieber 150 million Eminem 100 million.
That's why I like watching awards shows like the soul train awards and Cmt's , they Honor and showcase talent, not just chart toppers, which no one stays on the top forever. It was disrespectful how they were erased from the " One Sweet Day" discussion when the song's record was surpassed. I heard it as if Mariah was singing alone and they were her back up singers
I agree. People only mention Bobby Brown because of all the headlines he made but New Edition was talented. Johnny Gill's singing is the reason Can You Stand The Rain has never gotten old for me!
