Is there really a point to put that cleanser on the already dirty face wipe? That seems super counter productive, I've only ever used then when I get them in samples but always use a cleanser after.

Jesus y’all are so annoying. Skin and hair care is a journey - let her be ffs.

Mte lol Not everyone magically knows how to do proper skincare/ hair care. Some learn later in life.

My mom didn't wear makeup so I learned through trial and error over the years. I didn't wear a full face of makeup until I was well into my 20s. Plus I was poor lol I couldn't buy the good stuff until I was older. Same with skincare.

Yes! I didn’t grow up wealthy AT ALL, but my mom scraped together money every month to braid my hair. I totally get what Kat means when she talks about being “alone with your hair” for the first time. Mainstream beauty culture does NOT cater to women with Afro textured hair. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I figured out a regimen for my hair - and I had to do a ton of research.

Yes! As a black woman, it took getting the right stylist to tell me how to properly care for my type of hair. And a whole lot of research.

watching the beginning and her talking about how she'd been going to salons weekly since she was nine made me so mad for her. i can't speak on her feelings about it but her saying her mom "couldn't" do her hair rubbed me the wrong way - it seems more like she just couldn't be bothered to learn and shrugged the responsibility off on someone else when she could've easily sat in on the experience and learned how to care for her daughter's hair herself

I disagree based on my own experience with my mom. My mom is Indian with very straight hair and she tried to do my hair for years. She had a couple of styles that she could do like drop curls, flat twists and braids but honestly she wasn't very good at it and with all of the hours she worked it was very time consuming. She also got a lot of bad advice from hair stylists (of all races) who also didn't know what to do with my hair. Everyone saw a little black girl with curly hair and thought my hair needed to be slathered in oils and beat into submission with the heaviest products. It wasn't until I was in college that I started to learn how to care for my hair via the online natural community.

My mom also has completely different hair from mine. Her solution was to hack all my hair so it was super short. It was...not a good look. Now that it's longer (and I'm using proper hair products and not Pert Plus 2-in-1) it's much better. She still is after me to chop it all off, even though my hair doesn't have any definition without weight.

Ha the things we get put through when our parents don't know what to do with our hair lol. My mom still tells me I need to loosen my curls like they used to be when it was heat damaged from all of the straightening.

I too still find makeup left on my skin even after doing a double cleanse. I mean it got better when I learned to double cleanse but it’s still hard to get all my makeup off and have to go over it with a cotton pad with toner. I know that’s too much cleansing but I don’t want to leave makeup on my skin either. But face wipes are basura. They don’t remove makeup, they’re too harsh for the skin and they’re wasteful.

face wipes are truly the worst, idk how they got so popular and sooooo many celebs use them. oil based makeup remover and cotton pads are the best way in my experience, and like idc if i go thru 10 pads lol i will go over my face with them until they come off clean and then i'll wash my face, i've never find makeup left after it

Do you do both parts of the cleanse for 45 seconds to a minute each? I've found that really helps me!

the worst culprit for me is waterproof mascara. no matter how many times I wipe it off at night, I'll always find residue in the morning....

i really love her voice! i got really emotional when SHE got emotional about conditioner/her hair lmao :( also, she's a lot better at this than any of the other celebrities i've watched do makeup/skincare videos, in terms of having a very natural and conversational on-camera personality (like, specifically in a more personal video like this, outside of film/tv). normally i find these videos suuuuuper cringey but this one was very relaxing to me
