I’ve never seen the show because I found the premise hard to relate to, and it didn’t help when everyone would come up to me and assume that I watched it or would love it because of my daughter’s name (same pronunciation as the leads, different spelling).
If there’s one thing a person can do to get me to not watch something, it’s insisting that I will enjoy it over and over.
I think a lot of the usual suspects (Girls, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory). I've seen bits of New Girl and can't.
But I also actively avoid Outlander from things I've heard even though I love period dramas and would probably love the setting of Scotland + costumes.
I also avoid some of those crime shows through the perspective of a serial killer type, like I stay away from You but I have been recommended that a lot.
i haaaaaaated the novel Outlander, its one of the few books i never finished. the way it handled time period 'accurate' domestic abuse/violence towards women was too frustrating and upsetting to me.
i have been told the show is much better about it but idk. i love period drama and the show *looks* beautiful so i MAY check it out, idk.
Yes! Actually my aversion to Outlander stemmed from hearing about the book series first, though then I also did hear about stuff from the show. So Outlander is on my list of books I have no interest in reading.
I had debated too during the first few seasons but I feel like some of the hype has died down so I have less FOMO and there are enough other period dramas for me to enjoy :)
i tried the sopranos but found it a snoozefest. Gilmore girls I remember watching the first season when it was airing in my country but never got into it, just thinking about getting through a season of 22 episodes with Lorelai talking and talking and talking gives me a rash
I've made The Sopranos my quarantine project and I actually have come to really love it. I tried it many years ago and also gave up because I thought it was boring. Season 1 does take about half the episodes to get into a groove but once it does it's compelling TV. It's really a family drama set on the backdrop of the mob and I like family dramas, so it works for me. (I like mob movies too lol.)
i watched the first half of S1 and couldn't get into it. i may try again because of how many people rave about it but idk. i wanted to like it but it just wasn't that funny to me.
