Surprised they’re not going for a remake over a sequel considering David Bowie was a huge part of the original.

Either way though, if the music doesn’t compare to the original, (and it won’t) they shouldn’t bother. I still listen to Underground sometimes

I listen to the soundtrack often and Bowie wrote a lot of the songs. That's why it's so good. There is just no way this can be as good.

We need more animation remakes because Labyrinth would be perfect. Even though Bowie isn't in it I'll still watch because i bet the puppetry is going to be bomb.

I can't wait till we pass through this age of endless nostalgia remakes and sequels. IT'S A COMPLETE STORY. WE DON'T NEED MORE. Tell a different story.

a prequel would work way better for this if they really want to do something. jareth's background and the whole story of the labyrinth. the goblins etc.

Oh no, that's even worse for me. The original movie is so much of an allegory, I really don't want to flatten it out into just A Fantasy Universe. It's Sarah's coming of age journey and the Labyrinth is hers, I don't really need it to be expanded out into something beyond that, which I think is my main issue with the idea of a sequel. I feel like they're going to want to make this into something less than a thoughtful and nuanced fairytale, because that's not the sort of movie that gets made anymore for kids.

I wouldn't mind if they did a sequel where Toby grows up and has to pass through his own labyrinth experience, except that I'm a lot less interested in Yet Another Coming of Age Story For A Young Man. Unless they went REALLY daring and made him gay or trans or something (which would literally never happen, so...not gonna hold my breath).

okay, you're right! i always forget the opening scene of her reading the play and yeah it would probably be a huge disservice to do a pre. i think what they are planning on doing is something with grown toby.

Unnecessary.

I read recently that David Bowie had tried to get a stage adaptation of Labyrinth in the works for years but no one bit. That could've been interesting! (Imagine a stage version of the peach dream ballgown...)

I really hoped this bad idea had died when Bowie unfortunately passed. Even with him possibly being involved in the sequel it was still a NO from me. Just let it be what it is.
