A few months before the first HP movie came out, a friend of mine intent on expanding my reading repertoire literally sat me down and read the first few chapters of Sorcerer's Stone to me and after that I got hooked.

We were a friendship group of three and two od us were obsessed. The other one was already a tiny edgelord who wouldnt try anything if it was already popular. The two of us were reading at a sleepover and she said she was bored so i passed her the first one and she was like ugh fine... got hooked and borrowed it to take home the next day lol.

I was in 4th or 5th grade

My best friend was reading it and i remember thinking it looked dorky but then I read it and never looked back

My two fave Harry Potter memories are getting the 4th book on the first day of came out (the first three books were out by the time I read it) and when the 7th book came out I was living in South Korea and I believe it came out a day or two earlier there than in the US (I could be wrong) but somehow I messed the date up in my mind so I was just at a mall one day and the book was just magically there! I got to buy it a couple days earlier than I expected I was so excited

I was also 17 and Harry was 17 so it was kismet

I listened to the first chapter today, it was nice to hear DanRad read it. If he read the audiobooks I would totally get them!

ONTD, where were you when you first read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone?

I was 12 when I read the Philosopher's Stone. Hooked instantly. I had to go out and get the 2nd and 3rd right away.

Awww, little pocket prince. Now I want to listen. Sometimes his voice bugs me...but now I'm curious to hear him read it.

Sometimes I think about rewatching the movies, but then I stumble upon some YouTube video essay about them and hate how they bastardized the characters, erasing Harry/Ron's friendship, making Hermione perfect and seeping the personality out of Harry. Meh.

I hate how the screenwriter had such a thing for Hermione at the expense of Ron

I feel terrible because for years I was really upset how people were misreading Ron based on the movies but recently I realized that the changes in the movie affected my love for Hermione - I love her so much but sometimes I forget how much because I'm so annoyed at the movie version.

yeah, the movie version of Hermione bothers me so much. I know Hermione is Kloves's favourite character but tbh he didn't do her any justice. Never mind how much he did NOT get Ron at all.

My teacher read us the first HP book in 5th grade so I guess that's where I was? I think if she hadn't pronounced Hermione's name correctly I would have pronounced it wrong for years lol.

Supposedly the whole thing where Hermione is teaching Victor Krum how to pronounce her name is because people were saying it wrong.
