ONTD, where were you when you first read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone?

My mom bought the first three books and gave them to me and was like "Everyone says these are great for kids."

IDK even though I was in the right age bracket to love the books I was kind of a precocious reader so I never really enjoyed them. I envy the people who really got into them though, it seems like a fun fandom.

I know they came out when I was in 5th grade but I didn't actually ready them 9th grade.

Funny enough I was nostalgia-ing earlier today about how excited I'd get to pre-order books 5 and 7 and then pick-up from Waldenbooks (RIP).

My aunt sent me the first book for my birthday. I remember that it had BESTSELLER on the cover and thinking, "this will never" become a bestseller, and then becoming obsessed with it. I was the *first* kid in my grade to read it. #brag

Aw, this is cute.

I got into the HP books when the trailer for the second movie came out. My brother was reading them and I kept asking him questions and eventually he said "just read the books!" and I did. I was maybe 10 at the time so luckily I got to grow up with both the books and movies for the most part. I'll always adore HP because sparked my love for reading.

That all said I would donate $$$ if one of the actors narrated "Harry Potter and the Portrait of What Looked Like a Large Pile of Ash".
