I'm already looking forward to Shirley, Black Bear, Minari, The Nest, Palm Springs, The Night House and a bunch of others. Seems like a really good festival this year.

Thought about making a Sundance reactions post, but idk if anyone cares. Someone better buy Shirley, stat!

I care! So excited about Zola even with the mixed reactions. I am so happy this was put in the hands of a black woman, I was reading that James Franco originally wanted to direct (lol) but now this could be a breakout for Bravo.

Happy that PYW has great reviews even if I didn't care for the script.

Movies that weren't on my radar but are because of Sundance: The 40 Year Old Version written/directed/starring Radha Blank about a black woman playwright who at the age of 40 decides to try her hand at rap.

Also very interested in the documentary Into the Deep. It's about journalist Kim Wall who went to interview an inventor onboard his submarine and disappeared. A documentary filmmaker had been filming the building of the submarine a year before Wall's disappearance and kept filming as it was discovered that the inventor had murdered Wall (he is now convicted of her murder). Pretty nuts!

i’m super interested in ‘the forty year version’! i saw some nice things about it on twitter, too.

jeremy o harris, for his faults, was the perfect person to work on the zola script. i think it is my most anticipated film out of the festival (except maybe tessa thompson’s film, ‘sylvie’s love’) tbh.

i had missed ‘deep’ somehow, so thanks for mentioning it so i can keep an eye out! kim’s death was so sad.
