On one hand, I'm all about removing sexual predators from getting publicity. But it does seem like Spotify is picking and choosing and leaving up some prolific predators - just go all in, Spotify! Purge your platform!
My top five in 2019 were: 1. Bastille 2. Foals 3. MARINA 4. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend cast 5. Hozier
With "Doom Days" as my top song for the year and Bastille as artist of the decade.
My #1 artist for the year was apparently Chvrches, which I was really surprised by. Maybe for 2017, but this year? I don't really remember listening to them an extreme amount.
A lot of my top artists/songs were a surprise...I think I just listen to the same playlists, so these songs just appear and I don't really seek them out. I don't really understand why people I know I listened to a lot, like MUNA and Maggie Rogers, aren't on there.
Top artists 1. Chvrches 2. Jack Garratt (I can name one song from him) 3. Snow Patrol 4. Grimes 5. Elton John (I did listen to him a lot after Rocketman)
Top songs - Only #1, 5, and 7 are songs/artists I'd be able to name 1. The Mother We Share by Chvrches 2. Dreams Tonite by Alvvays 3. Never Going Home by Hazel English 4. Now & Then by Sjowgren 5. Feeling Ok by Best Coast 6. Knock Me Off My Feet by SOAK 7. Lost on You be LP 8. Needle and a Knife by Tennis 9. Your Dog by Soccer Mommy 10. Maybe You're the Reason by The Japanese House
Chvrches was in my top 5 this year and I felt the same way. I was like sure I'd barely listened to them. But it literally must have all been that "Here With Me" song they released bc I did actually listen to that a lot. And I also was surprised that MUNA wasn't in my top! The only thing that I can guess is that I listened to their album mostly on Apple Music instead of Spotify bc I listened to it A LOT.
And they will never take off the music of Elvis and MJ and all those 70s rock guys who raped their young female fans.
The only reason they took down rkelly was the documentary, the fact that he is in jail, and public pressure.
I have conflicted feelings about removing Chris tbh. It'd be great and I really really want it. But I hate that it would require Riri to comment on it. In which case she would support him remaining on the platform (she recntly had his music playing in one of her insta stories).
Any severe punishment he faces will be tied to her unless he victimizes another high profile woman.
I'd love for him to be removed, but I don't want rihanna to be in the position of Samantha Geimer for the rest of her life.
I'm def open to hearing critique of anything I said tho.
I do think you're right that unfortunately admonishing Chris Brown will always bring Rihanna into the conversation but he HAS done other shit. Like throwing a chair through a window at GMA, fighting with Frank Ocean, getting arrested in Florida, Karreuche getting a restraining order against him, etc. Like, his behavior is all around bad and Rihanna is just a small part of it but it is probably true that if he was ever removed from the platform it would probably be for what he did to her, since it was the most public.
Seriously he’s displayed enough terrible and violent behavior even outside of the Rih thing, but even if everyone else didn’t drag her name into it whenever that’s mentioned, I feel like he would. Abusive men never want to let their victims go.

I don't about this band but regarding Chris Brown I'm guessing it's because he's still big in the R&B fields.
R.Kelly still has fans but he's not as hot as he used to be in terms singles/albums on the charts. Last album was 2016.
