just keep ornaments off the bottom. i had cats from birth till this year and as long as we had the tree tightly secured in the stand and kept things off the bottom branches, we were fine.

i bought a fake tree and just use walmart or meijer wax melts that smell like christmas trees. the nightmare i had in 2016 of trying to get a tree out of my sliding glass door to the dumpster and getting needles fucking everywhere was enough for me to never want to do a real tree again
