I kind of feel bad for Lizzo, shes getting so much shit for these noms and Soultrain awards. DaBaby and Meg shouldve gotten best new artist noms, but i bet they wont nominate them until next year.

Even as someone who is Lizzo burned out, the shit she’s getting is pissing me off

I understood the source of Ari Lennox’s frustration, but far too many men - straight and gay - latched on and blew it up into open season Lizzo just because they hate her. If Chris Brown had won that ST award, it’d have been crickets.

Yeah I read on twitter some of takes mostly from Ari Lennox and I felt bad for Lizzo because it seems like a lot of people are jumping the hate train with her.

omg i know. she's getting it from black twitter bc she doesn't register as black enough plus the soul train awards fiasco and white taylor/ariana/lana/kpop stans are also attacking her bc she got more grammy nominations.

instead of attacking the institutions that are doing this, they rather just attack the artist

this is kind of related - but how do musicians campaign for the grammys? with the oscars, there's a lot of festivals and industry pubs and press campaigns but i don't feel like musicians do the same thing. i'm always really confused by the nomination process

IMO, it’s unclear and from there I just say their labels, do. Some people’s stats you can’t ignore (Tyler), some are divisive (Solange’s album which I’ll admit I thought was lacking).

But he’s not wrong for being angry at black art not being recognized as it should.

Musicians and, first and foremost, labels, do

a lot of people who want to be considered do talks at the grammy museum, taylor during her most craven days would time a music magazine cover right around nomination time, chat show appearances or performances are also quite regular, a lot of showing up at industry parties. i haven't paid attention to the grammy circuit in a while because it's frustrating but they (like the oscars) seem to be scaling back on obvious loud awards plays and are doing most of the stuff behind close doors.

He’s right. I just listened to Burna Boy’s new album and it’s too good!

Igor is AOTY. That Lil Nas X ep is a fucking joke. Solange was robbed. H.E.R is such an obvious industry plant, her music has no impact, critically or commercially, literally three reviews on site aggregators and 80-something place on B200. But fucking ‘Cellophane’ by FKA twigs gets just a VOTY nom. Those Bon Iver/Vampire Weekend records were not their career highs, I have no idea why the academy decided to single them out in the main categories all of a sudden, probably good campaigning or something. There were indie records with way more hype this/last year, like Weyes Blood or Idles
Also the Lizzo single shit is not fair AT all
