I love awards shows but I mean it is all business and marketing at the end of the day. It's all always been that.

Sometimes the decisions are right and others times not.

Although I do tend to rme at people who for a period of time will "fuck the awards business" and then a few years later down the line they're up there graciously accepting awards.

That said I do think highlighting and calling out criticism of the politics behind it or the racial disparity in terms of winners and categorizations every year is a good topic to bring up constantly.

Ariana Grande, wonder if she'll go this year.

LOL I was wondering if she was going to make an appearance this year! The grammy announcement post acknowledge that she was maybe being a bit shady because of her issues last year BUT overwhelmingly she does seem happy about the noms especially when she got a AOTY nom. Whether she shows up or not she'll accept that grammy cause she tweeted pics of herself when she received her grammy in the mail.

But in general I feel like 99% of artists really do wanna want the awards/fame/acclaim/praise that they say is bullshit or unnecessary. Especially when their careers don't pan out exactly~ like how they wanted it to. The validation of those awards or praise can sometimes be a self-esteem booster for them.

There's only that very small 1% of artists who do shun it completely.

If mixtapes disqualify you for BNA then that's basically deliberately fucking over rap artists tbh.

i don't even get it because why would mixtapes disqualify you but actual albums wouldn't??? like lizzo is being nominated BNA this year and she's released plenty of albums before this

Wasn't there sort of a big deal a while ago about how bizarre the Grammy nominee/voting process is? How any of these industry awards get doled out doesn't really seem like it's about artistry or whatever.

He didn't lie and to underscore how rigged this whole show is, if mixtapes disqualify you for BNA that's anti-black. Rap artists, who lets be honest are 99% black, do mix tapes all the time

/will never ever get over good kidd, madd city losing to macklemore because the academy of music is RACIST.

He is absolutely right. The album he released was pretty fire too so was surprised when I didn’t see his name. But yeah, all those ppl he named were shafted. The Grammys are just a big popularity contest anyway and hardly represent the best in music.
