these galas and charity balls and just all its adjacent shit is such a scam. if you're a billionaire you have no business asking anyone else to donate money and the audacity of bringing other rich people together, spending hundreds of thousands, if not millions, gifting them with more wealth/property/high end entertainment, that will in turn "help the poor" is utter and complete bullshit. jay and beyonce could fully fund the programs these proceeds are supposed to go to a million times over. eat the rich, don't care if they're poc, don't care if they used to be poor, don't care if they're women/lgbt. if you have insane wealth and uphold systems of oppression--looking at you jay and ellen and others, your wealth needs to be taken and redistributed.
