Abercrombie & Fitch was one of the most popular stores for teens in the early 2000s. But after a couple missteps and controversial remarks from the CEO at the time, the brand image plummeted. If all trends are cyclical, I'm curious to see how the tweens will rock obscenely low cut jeans and polo shirts in the coming years

I CANNOT do with super low-rise jeans. Not with my behind and thighs. It didn't work then and it certainly won't work now. I love the high-rise trend.

Yea I spent so many years uncomfortable in my clothes bc the jeans were cut low and did not work for my hips.

This was the brand that all the rich kids in high school wore. I remember feeling so ashamed that my family couldn't afford to buy me that shit. Ashamed that I shopped at Target (way uncool back then) and Old Navy to try and get the same look. Even more ashamed that I couldn't even fit into their large size. I'm so ashamed now at how important that was to me back then! Fuck Abercrombie, all their brands, and the shitty self-loathing image they manufactured. I hope it dies a sad death.

Truth! I remember it was around 2003 or 2004 when Target started getting savvy with a more updated, wider variety of styles for young people. My dad worked for Target Corporation (not an office job, we were still poor af), so he had discounts at all the Target Corp. stores, Macy's, Marshall Fields, and Target. So we always shopped there.

I find Target kind of expensive now tho...

Noicee!

Yeah, old navy has really glowed up from when I was little. their plus section is dope af

Re: target

It's pricey, but the clearance sections are always full of good shit. I just bought 3 dresses for 50 bucks that were originally 2 or 3 times as much at full price.

I don't know if this was a thing at other stores but I remember at my mall they would have shirtless "models" guys standing outside and walking around their store

lmao omg I remember this! I remember they had guys wearing red boxers and Santa hats around Christmastime standing outside the store.

This always made me avoid the store. It just seemed so creepy to me (not to mention blatant sexual advertising).

I remember the first time seeing that. I was so confused as to why there were guys in their underwear walking around the mall.

This is the place whose CEO made fun of people's looks while he looked like chewed up gum?

I was too fat and my family was WAY too poor to afford this shit, so I never entered one of the stores until I was like... 19. My friend asked for my opinion on a "special" shirt he wanted.... we stared at two slightly different plain brown shirts and then he paid $85 for one of them. I nearly passed out right then and there.
