I loved The Stand when I read it as a teenager. I don’t think it’s as scary as some of King’s stuff.

I'm gonna attempt this book.

Same, I've had a copy sitting on my bookshelf for a while now lol

But not until probably October because I have enough books lined up for this month lol

not that it’ll be hard to beat the miniseries in terms of quality but i hope this is good. it’s one of my all-time favorite kings and im kinda bummed by how the IT reboots were handled writing-wise so i would love if this ended up being one of those great king adaptations we’re occasionally surprised with.

In regards to IT, I was hoping/excited for the reboot to be "balls to the wall" messed-up, true to the book, and really blow my mind. It did not.
Therefore, Part 1 of the new IT was terrible IMO. Except for a few details, it was nothing like the book. And in that case, despite all it's 90s cheesy-ness, I prefer the 90s miniseries of IT. (Plus, Tim Curry 4-eva!)

It's funny how the 1990 miniseries was actually more faithful to the novel in the long run.

And that's exactly why I like it better. :) Being such a shocking/gory book, I'm surprised they kept it faithful with being on 90s primetime network TV. I was about 12 when it came out, and Pennywise with the pointy teeth still scares me. I used to hide my eyes during the Georgie part! LOL!

So, if the new Stand is awful, I will still prefer the cheesy 90s series. It was really well done for it's time.

(I rewatched The Stand recently and there was something at the end.... I ROARED with how bad it was... don't big ghost hands come down and pick up Flagg? LMAO)

I hope they do Nadine justice, she's one of my favorite Stephen King characters. I thought Laura San Giacomo did a good job playing her in the miniseries, though I wasn't a fan of how they merged her character with Rita and gave her relationship with Joe to Lucy.

I missed yesterday's post, but as someone who thought Eric Northman was a loathsome creep I think it's nice Skarsgard is trying to top himself by playing someone even more despicable.

I need this to be good! A lot of the casting has been good so far, but I'm nervous about Amber Heard as Nadine (i was hoping for Keri Russell or Michelle Dockery). Also the actress playing Frannie looks SO young compared to James Marsden.

They should really recast Nick Andros so he's actually being played by a Deaf actor
