I haven’t watched so idk this is mentioned in the video but I want to bring up another area is bias. Fatness. I’ve read way too many stories of overweight people bringing a concern to a doctor and the doctor being like “idk lose some weight 🙃” instead of actually investigating.

I went to the doctor for anxiety and a gym injury that hadn't stopped hurting months later. I was giving anxiety pills and a suggestion to go buy some diet pills from target. He said it'd "give me more energy so I'd work out more and make me eat less." Okay, I'm there for anxiety issues, don't need more energy. Didn't even acknowledge me pain. Which I said was from the gym.
Ended up losing a bunch of weight on my own and then going to a doctor to try to figure out what I think is ADHD and ended up getting more antidepressants which I finally realized fuck with my appetite when I gained a bunch back. Hoping to find a doctor who listens to me and doesn't just hear "oh, depression in the past? Time to treat depression!" when those meds don't fix the issue.

Telling someone with anxiety to take stimulants is so fucking dumb.

I could have sworn I've even heard this from people within the profession. IDK what would explain it, though.

I honestly think in general doctors so used to dealing with people who lie and are non compliant that they end up writing everyone off as being that way, and i get how it's easy to see people like that but at that point you are unable to do your job.

I haven't watched yet but age and weight immediately come to mind

One of my relatives almost died because they're doctor kept telling "you're tired cause you're just old" and didn't want to actually check their health
no asshole, they had a medical issue that required emergency surgery cause your stupid ass waited too long and magically after getting it eveything was fine

bro this has happened to me so much. a couple years ago i literally had an infection in one of my organs that caused it to swell and visibly protrude several inches from my body but was told by multiple doctors that i was over-exaggerating and needed to use a saline rinse?? when i was rushed to the ER after passing out at work, the surgeon who was going to perform my emergency surgery told me out of NOWHERE during my consultation "i bet you're used to batting your eyelashes and getting your way all time time, unfortunately that's not going to work today"

How the fuck does that kind of comment even come up in the context of "you're dying and I'm here to perform life-saving surgery"?????
