I never intend to have children partially because i don't think having children will bring me any sort of joy but also because i am well aware that I am statistically more likely to die from it because i'm black. People think that I'll change my mind because I'm only 21 but nah i'm good. I alway remember the Serena Williams story of doctors not believing that she had a blood clot after giving birth when she's experienced them in the past, even money can't protect you from these biases.

One of the main reasons why I'm in school pursuing a professional degree within healthcare is because I want to see more people in the field that look like me and know that there's someone there to advocate for them. I hope that the industry would change all together but if I can even help one person get the attention they need then I will be happy

the amount of condescension ive received from doctors has completely discredited them for me. also, fuck male doctors for making me feel uncomfortable since i was a teenager with their inappropriate comments and actions.
