this cast is filled with very talented dudes but there is one woman listed and i'm tired of using war films as an excuse to just make movies about white dudes

This is my takeaway, too. There are a ton of stories that could be told which cover the years leading up to, during, and following WWI. Like, if you want to make a historical film... why not cover the Red Summer of 1919 in the States? I get that Nolan and Mendes, specifically, are British, but overall, men just don’t want to confront anything difficult about themselves which is the antithesis to being an artist!
