If the MCU insists on doing the Phoenix storyline they need to highlight how much power Jean has on a microlevel instead of going for the big flames right off the bat. It would be cool to see her telekinetically rearrange molecules + bend the universe to her will and do a slow burn into being consumed with power.

I can't decide if I think they'll go for it or not - DP is likely going to be the biggest bomb of the year and that means this particular storyline has been toxic TWICE. And it's not like the X-Men don't have a ton of other stories they can do. But at the same time, "we're doing it right, come and see" like 5 years after they start doing X-Men films again (and actually let the storyline build) might be a thing they want to do. IDK.

I think the problem is that in the comic and the animated series, they had a lot of time to flesh out the storyline. Its just such a big story to do in one film.

My pipe dream is that Phoenix is the next Thanos level extinction event in the MCU. They'd be able to tease it well with the more space oriented movies, and it would be a good catalyst for possible Avengers x X-Men ideologically infighting.

I'll get crap for saying this but it wasn't as bad as everyone said. It wasn't perfect and needed better pacing and needed some distinction from X3 but it wasn't a garbage fire.

better than the wolverine, worst than apocalypse. also,famke is a much better jean grey than sophie ever will be. Dark Phoenix is entertaining, but the writing was an absolute mess. There was no sense of danger at all in the movie compared to DofP, or even The Last Stand.

Famke also had the advantage of having 2 full movies before X3 to develop her character whereas we see Jean for half a movie (though let's be real, the gen 1s were still the mains in Apocalypse) and then we're supposed to care about her in Dark Phoenix.
